Construction methods

 

  • When used in roadbeds, the construction method is the same as that for biaxial geogrids.
  • When used in reinforced soil retaining walls, the construction method is as follows:

 

1. Set up the foundation and construct according to the designed wall system. When using precast reinforced concrete panels, they are generally 12-15cm thick and supported on a precast concrete foundation. The width should not exceed 30cm, the thickness should not be less than 20cm, and the embedment depth should not be less than 60cm to prevent the effects of frost heave.

2. Level the wall foundation. Excavate and level according to design requirements. Soft soil needs to be compacted or replaced, compacted to the required density, slightly exceeding the wall surface area.

3. Lay the reinforcement. The main strength direction of the reinforcement should be perpendicular to the wall surface and fixed with pins.

4. Backfill the wall. Use mechanical backfilling, maintaining a distance of at least 15cm between the wheels and the reinforcement. After compaction, each layer of soil should be approximately 15cm thick.

5. During wall construction, geotextile should be wrapped around the wall surface to prevent soil loss.
